Decisions and Peace

As I sit down to write tonight it is extremely difficult to find the words. As each of you know, Mom has been diagnosed with Poorly Differentiated Neuroendocrine Tumors. With this type of cancer and as advanced as it was there is no way of knowing where it started. This type of cancer is extremely rare and is a very aggressive fast growing cancer. It is treatable but not curable. With chemotherapy treatment life expectancy is six months to a year. The surgery Mom had was very invasive, and she has fought hard and long to recover from the surgery. Her fight entailed two trips to the ICU, E-coli infections, and fluid accumulating in her lungs. Tests results showed the cancer had spread to her lungs which is causing constant fluid accumulation. She is on oxygen to help improve her breathing. This has taken a toll on Mom's body. After counseling with many specialists, Mom has made the decision not to undergo any kind of chemotherapy treatment. Our family is at peace with this decision and we know that our Heavenly Father will call her home.
We know each of your prayers have extended her life thus far with the tender mercies of our Heavenly Father. We ask that your continued prayers will be to bring comfort with the suffering Mom continues to experience. Our family is grateful for each day we are given to be with Mom.

I love you Sister Cook and I still have a great love for your wonderful family after all of these years being gone from Farmington. Wonderful memories and aren't I lucky and blessed to have felt your love too. I pray for you everyday that you will be comforted from the horrible things you have had to endure. You are a hero to me and I have loved your spunk and fight! I want to be just like you in your testimony, in being a mother, grandmother, friend and just an example to all. Once again....I'm so glad that Kristi has provided such an inspired blog to share. You are so talented Kristi,to put this experience in words. I don't know how you have done it, during these hard days.

    Love,

  3. Sweet Chris,
I love you, I love you, I love you- but you already knew that. You have been a fixture in our daily prayer, and you and your family will continue to be. I hope that you will find relief, peace and many special, memorable moments. Thank you for the example you have always been to me, for the unconditional love, and for the feeling of comfort I have always gained while in your arms. You hold a very special place in my heart. I love you and your family, and know I will one day find myself in your warm and comforting embrace once again. May the Lord now bless you and your family with the same loving and comforting embrace. All of my love,
    Chanel

  7. My Dear Friend Chris,

I miss you so so much. You are such an amazing person. I strive to be like you every day. (Except for almost running the red lights, we made it through that little scare though-huh). You and Jack have been so excepting of my family, that has meant to much to all of us. Just yesterday Sierra was asking about grandma Chris. She said I hope she is feeling better. She misses you so much.
You are the first thought in my head every morning. This blog is like my cup of Joe in the morning, very first thing I do is get on my phone to see the latest news.
I pray with all my heart that you and your family will be comforted through this hard trial. I love you so much Chris.

  9. Our dear Chris,
We have loved you so much since the first day we met you, which I believe was the day you helped us have a Buchanan Consultants party in you own backyard. You and Jack and your whole family have been a large part of our Farmington history. How do you take in so many people as family, and have the time to be so close to all of them? We love you with all of our hearts and pray for your comfort and for every blessing you are in need in.

Kristi has done such a wonderful service documenting your trials and your courage for all of us to experience.

  12. MY SIS CHRIS!

With deep and sincere gratitude and with a humble heart, I give thanks to Heavenly Father, that he chose me to have the great privilege of being your earthly Sister. My life has been enriched and blessed because of your presence. You have been my big sister who has stood beside me through storms in my life. I will be eternally grateful for the love and support you have given me and my children. How blessed our entire family is to have such a faithful example of Christ like love as you. You are the personification of what a true disciple of Christ is. We all cherish the memories of family gatherings with Chris at the center of entertainment and preparation. We all love you so much! My children and grandchildren love you. Scott and I are leaving for sure tomorrow to see you, no matter what! How I long to see you and give you forever hugs. I love you Chris!

    Love your sis,
    Jeanne Cahoon

As I read this blog and all of the comments made I am humbled at the love that so many have for Chris. I always knew that Chris loved me and accepted me at whatever point I happened to be at in my life. She has an amazing ability to make the people around her feel like they are the most important person in the world. I knew that I would be loved and uplifted when I was around her. I know now that she made everyone feel that way! As I think about Chris at this time, my heart is breaking to know that such an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, is going to leave us soon. I do find peace knowing that she has lived her life as a shining example of Christ like love and that she will be welcomed into her Savior's arms as one of his children who has fought a good fight and shown the rest of us how we should live and love. Thank you Kristi for sharing this time with all of us through this blog. I know it is an incredibly painful experience to watch someone you love suffer and it has been a sacrifice to keep all of us informed of your mom's condition. The Cook's are one lucky family to have had Chris as their own. Chris, I love you dearly and I thank you for making this world a better brighter place. I will never forget the love that you showed to me. I pray for you and your sweet family every day. I will help take care of Kristi, and even Kurt if needs be...for as long as I live. I look forward to the day that I will see you again, pain free and perfect. It's people like you that make me want to be a better person. I love you mama Chris. Until we meet again....

  19. Kenny and I want you to know Chris that we really feel our lives have been enriched knowing you and Jack. You have always made us smile and your cheerful disposition is something we will always cherish. We really hate that you have been suffering so much and it is really hard to understand why this has to be, but we do know that heaven will be a better place especially if it is filled with sweet people like you. Our prayers are with you and your family. May God bless and keep you for us. Jack if you need anything at all please let us know. Kristi, thanks for keeping us informed and being such a good daughter. Love Kenny and Patsy Clugston

  20. Kristi,
Thank you so much for keeping us updated while allowing your family to be together without all of the interuptions from so many of us who love Chris and who would no doubt have tried to contact her. Please know that you are in our prayers too. As someone who has lost a parent to cancer, I know that you and your siblings will also need to have our Fathers spirit with you during this bittersweet time. The precious moments that you have shared recently as a family and the ones that you will continue to share are a reminder at what is truely important, eternal families.
Chris, I love you so much and I am grateful to have had the pleasure to be one of your ward sisters for so long. Thank you for always sharing a smile and a hug. I pray for your comfort and peace.
    Love
