We should remember that saying “I love you” is only a beginning. We need to say it, we need to mean it, and most importantly we need consistently to show it. We need to both express and demonstrate love.
President Thomas S. Monson recently counseled: “Often we assume that [the people around us] must know how much we love them. But we should never assume; we should let them know. … We will never regret the kind words spoken or the affection shown. Rather, our regrets will come if such things are omitted from our relationships with those who mean the most to us” (“Finding Joy in the Journey,” Liahona and Ensign, Nov. 2008, 86).
May every spouse, every child, and every parent be blessed to communicate and receive love, to bear and be edified by strong testimony, and to become more consistent in the seemingly small things that matter so much.

It has been observed and noted that the Cook family is an example of the governing principles of HAPPINESS. They know their happiness in family life is achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteThe Cook family is a living model of the knowledge that successful families are established and maintained upon the principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, LOVE, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.
I LOVE YOU Chris Mom and family...

Kristi-
ReplyDeleteYou have brought such honor to your Mother. Thank you from the depths of my heart in allowing us to share in this most tender and trying time. Proverbs 31 :10,28 was written for your mother, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."
Our love-

Hi Kristi
ReplyDeleteThis is Sara Duncan, Eric & Teri Duncans daughter. I was hoping you coul tell your mom how much I love her. She has always been special to me. I use to do her hair and always enjoyed my time with her. I haven't seen her very many times in the last few years since I moved away but have never forgot what a wonderful woman she is. Thank you, Sara
I just experienced the most treasured, cherished and tender opportunity of a life time. I was able to wrap my arms around by dearly loved Sister Chris and kiss her goodbye before she leaves this mortal life. I was able to thank her for blessing my life in so many ways. Chris, you are my hero and my inspiration and I will miss you more than words could express.
ReplyDeleteI realize that sometimes a loved one’s life is suddenly taken and that chance to bid farewell is not possible. I am grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who made this possible for me to visit Chris. I am grateful to our Savior Jesus Christ and His Atoning Sacrifice that made it possible for me to see my sister again. Take every opportunity to express love and appreciation to those loved ones in your life. I pray the Lord will bless my Scott with comfort and understanding as he will experience the tremendous loss of his beloved Aunt Chris. I love you Chris!
Forever hugs and kisses!
Love, your sis

Our Love:
ReplyDeleteInto each mother, God has placed a bit of Himself. Thus it is through our mother's
love that we first realize the love of God.
From the first tender moment in our lives when we are dependent upon her care,
she gives freely & completely of those moving qualities of patience, understanding,
&love with which God Himself has endowed her.
How great is the debt that we owe her, & how little she asks of us....only our love
in return.

ReplyDeleteThis is the other Michele VanValkenburg and as hard as it is to tell someone good bye I would feel very sad if I didn't tell your Mom how much I love her and her family. Thank her for sharing a part of her life and her children with me. My life is blessed because Chris Cook and her family was a part of it. We had some good slumber parties on 20th st. for young women's. My thoughts and prayers are with your Mom and her family. May Heavenly Father bless this sweet courageous woman at this time.
Love to all of you,
Michele VanValkenburg

Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI have known an angel by knowing you. I remember when we did Relief Society homemaking meetings together and how much it was such a joy to serve with you. I have loved all the time I have known you. May you have peace and know I love you.

Chris: I have such fond memories of all the times we've stood in the aisles of the drugstore, Hobby Lobby, Hastings, Smith's, etc. and shared updates about our children and in more recent years, our wonderful grandchildren. After our visits, I would leave with a smile in my heart, remembering all the slumber parties, trips to root on "our Scorpions", and other fun times of yesteryear. You are so special to me and you have touched countless lives as has been testified to by the wonderful comments over the past weeks. Reading Kristi's blog is the very first thing I do each morning, and while the news, for the most part, hasn't been good, the love and faith that have poured forth has been a great gift. You and your sweet family are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. Love, Gwen & Charles
