Small Miracles
Mom is still in the ICU. Her lungs were drained this morning to take a CT contrast from the day before. The lab results are a direct miracle of prayers. She does not have pneumonia, there was not any indication of a blood clots and the cancer cells have not attached to each other to form tumors. Her lungs will continue to fill with fluid and the cancer cells will form into tumors if chemo is not started immediately. Once again Mom needs be stabilized before starting chemo. Chemo has been apart of the plan however it has become greatly urgent that the docs are able proceed asap. She is still on a ventilator. The docs hope to remove the ventilator tomorrow afternoon. She is heavily sedated to keep her unaware of what is taking place. Little John walked into her room last night and leaned over and whispered "I love you Gram." She turned her head, opened her eyes and squeezed his hand. She immediately went back to the deep sleep. Her grandkids are her life and she is everything to them.

I am so thankful that the doctors are able to sedate her and let her get some rest and relief from her pain. Now if they would just sedate Kristi for a day or two.... Jack might want in on that action as well! I know that it has been terribly painful to watch Chris suffer. I am glad that you are able to see the small miracles for what they are. I will continue to pray for Chris and the family. You are an example to so many in your faith and love for each other.

Dear Cook family!
ReplyDeleteHow shocking this all is........Too much to take in, really. God bless you all, and especially dear Chris. I kept hearing different things, so thank you for posting what the real situation is, I've been so concerned and worried about her. I know she is in God's hands. She's a very strong lady, she's going to pull through. Jack--My thoughts are with you, as well. You're such a good, strong person. I have always appreciated you and Chris so much, as well as have always enjoyed my friendship with Brett, Greg, and Lori.
I'll check back in often for daily updates.
Love to all of you,
Alyssa
Dear Cook Family,
ReplyDeleteI just heard about what your mom is going through, and I have been reading through all the blog posts all morning. You all are amazing for the love, care, and support you are giving your mom. Just like Neil and Tommy have said, your mom really was like a second mom to all of us. She and your dad had such a profound impact on us as young men, and I have never forgotten what it felt like to be in your home and with your family--the safety, the security, the love that we always felt whenever we walked in. I am so sorry that your mom is having to go through this. At the same time, I'm so moved by the impact you and she are having on so many people through it all.
You Cooks are the most resilient bunch I have ever seen! The things you guys have made it through over the course of your lives are such a testament to who you are as a family. Our family will definitely be praying for God's grace and strength and peace to completely engulf you.

I am glad to hear Chris has been sedated. I hope the vent was removed today and chemo can begin. I am releived to hear that small miracles are still happening. BIG hugs to Jack and to Chris from us. We love you.
ReplyDeleteChris my Sis….please hang on! I so hope they can start chemo soon. I miss you so much!! Tami Eddy shared with me one of her sister’s favorite quotes which was from Little Women..it so resonates with in my heart…... "I could never love anyone as much as I love my sisters." I love you and Deb so much!! Please hurry and get better and come home!!
