Mom has left the Huntsman Cancer Institute. We appreciate the care that was provided to her during her time at HCI. We have moved her to a hospice home. This place is so peaceful and has a very reverent feeling. Those who are providing Mom's care are extremely compassionate. She thinks this place is heaven on earth.
Mom will not be returning to New Mexico and we know how much each of you would like to come and give Mom hugs and we are grateful for the love you have for her. However at this sensitive time, the family requests that all visitation is restricted to direct family.

ReplyDeleteYour sister in Zion,
Donna Brimhall 8th ward Donna
Dearest Chris, Jack & Family,
ReplyDeleteHow wise your decision of the direction you have chosen to pursue for this wonderful
Mother Chris, Father Jack & Family- As I read with tears your most prayerful yet difficult decision as to the most peaceful, compassionate location for yourselves & Chris
to feel at home away from the crowd so to speak attended by people who have the ability to perform the care on this earth of Angels & do it well. Hopeful the pain can be kept in check & rest may be obtained as much as possible- As friends we can remember our
close encounters with the family over many, many years & be thankful. We can pray for you that the Peace that passeth all understanding may shine down upon all of you
as each family member remembers "The Plan of Happiness" Remembering the parting is but a moment; even though in earthly years it seems
a long time.
Kristy I can't thank you enough for this blog you have faithfully kept up to date
for us. I check it every day & you give me strength as you show your love for your Mom
in your actions - What a beloved daughter. Please take care of yourself also.
Keep the news coming
With Love Nancy & Bruce
Dear Sweet Cook Family,
ReplyDeleteOur hearts go out to you at this most tender time. There is nothing easy about mortality nor those savored moments with those we love most dear, as the final chapter is being written in their book of life. Your parents have always been able to show such great joy in life and love for every one. I know that heaven will blanket you in this exalted time and will fill your being with peace. There is much to be said about the knowledge of eternal covenants and the assurance that they are in place.
My tears are selfish in the fact that I will never be able to hug Chris in this life again(Please give her one for me) but I will eternally be grateful that friendships are forever.
Thank you for keeping all of us informed - what a labor of love for so many that you will never know. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.
Much Love, Vikki Kreutzian
Jack, Chris and Family...You know we love you, our hearts are breaking but know you are feeling the peace that comes with the knowledge that families are forever. How wonderful it is to have the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives! Our continuing prayers are with you all! Love you all Major and Sally
ReplyDeleteChris,
ReplyDeleteI am overwhelmed with deep emotion as I read the sweet comments.
What a beautiful legacy you have given to your family and friends.
May our Heavenly Father give you and your family peace.
Love, Sherrie Cox Diediker
Aunt Chris and Uncle Jack,
ReplyDeleteI am not very good at expressing my feelings, let alone on a public forum. I did want to let you know how much you have meant to my family, both growing up and with my family now. Trish and I try to pattern our marriage after you. Through the joys of life as well as the trials, you have always kept things in an eternal perspective. I only dream of leaving a legacy as you have.
Mark
Dear Chris and Jack,
ReplyDeleteLike Mark said, it's hard to write my feelings here, but I would be remiss if I didn't. I see people put Aut Chris and Uncle Jack, and although I'm not a nephew, I always felt like part of the family because of the time I spent at your house and at your family gatherings with Jason. The great thing about you guys is that you always took me in and made me feel like I was part of the family and I could always feel the spirit and love when I was there. I've also looked up to you both as examples of how to act and become more like Christ, although I have a long path ahead to catch up to you two. :)
I still remember vividly Jack teaching us nuckle-head deacons, teachers, and priests about being successful. While earthly success has eluded me, I am a successful father of 6 great kids and husband to a wonderful wife so I count myself as being successful in what really matters. Those are all things I've learned from you both, and not just in Sunday School lessons, but in how you lived and your examples that everyone could see.
My heart breaks to hear of your pain and suffering and I hope the spirit comforts you at this time. You are in our prayers.
Love you.
Kristy,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you remember me, but I took the family pictures this summer. I also took some photos of Chris and Jack about 2 and half years ago and I know she never knew what to do with the disk. She and I planned to have a date to the printing shop and never did and I am so sorry! I don't keep backups of most of my photos and I would be crushed if your family did not have copies. I can't tell you how beautiful they are. I have only a small collage of them on my website http://dramaticimaging.blogspot.com/ under the couples section. There is a head shot of her that is so so beautiful! She has always reminded me of the gorgeous "I dream of Genie" girl! If you do not have a copy of this disk, please ask Chris if she remembers where it is and to tell Kurt! I will take it and make many copies for your whole family and many copies of the disk. I love you Chris. Thank you so much for letting me help document your special grandma camp and to be a small part of your life. Amy Brimhall
Dear Chris, Jack and Family,
ReplyDeleteAshley called us yest. and told us about your illness. We were saddened to hear this news. Our love and prayers go out to you at this time.
I remember Chris, that you were always the first to offer help and support to anyone in need and you always followed through. Your acts of kindness are sprinkled throughout our community. I remember when we first moved to Farmington that you called me to the Primary. You invited me to your home to help me with my duties. I can still see you at your butcher block counter cutting up vegetables and meat for your family dinner, the twins were eating lunch in their high chairs, and you were helping me as well. I so admired you for all you did that day. I felt welcomed into the ward and to the town. Thank you for that day.
I also want to thank you for offering your home to host Ashley and Eleisha's reception. It took such a load off my shoulders. It was such a wonderful time and a night we all remember as one of our great times.
Thank you for being such great teacher, our girls often comment about the great lessons you and also Sally Graham gave to them in young women's classes. They cherish those times, whatever your calling was, you would always do it with dedication. We all look up to you.
Your great legacy is your children, their love and devotion to you and to the Church is wonderful. It was so fun to work with Lori in Primary a few years ago. She was so much fun, so great with the kids, and yes, she followed in your footsteps.
It was always so fun to run into you somewhere in town, I always got a hug and a quick few words about out families, and went on my way with a smile. Thank you for your friendship. I hope we will be eternal friends as well someday. We love you and your family.
Sincerely,
Dixie and Spence Oviatt
Anyone who has pictures can send them to me and I'll print them at my work. We have a photo quality digital press to print on, so send them over! I'll figure out how to get them to Kristy so she can show them to Chris and Jack.
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Chris and Family,
ReplyDeleteMy heart is full of many emotions for the Cook family at this time. I'am so honored to be counted as one of Chris Cook's friends. You have been such a wonderful example in my life all these years. I have learned so many lessons from you and how to live a Christ like life of love for everyone. All these years your family has set so many examples for not only my family but for many others. We have been together in the good times, the hard times, and the sad times. I have loved serving in callings with you and learning from your knowledge of the Gospel. Being with you has always been an experience no matter if it was church, fun, or business, I could write a book about our adventures. Thank you Chris for all the life lessons and knowledge I have learned from you but most of all for the strong testimony you have always shared with me and helped me to be a better person. You are truly a daughter of our Heavenly Father, who loves you. May you and your family find the peace and comfort you need at this time. All my love, Sue
Dear Kristi,
Thank you so much for keeping us in touch with your Mom and family. I know it has not been easy for you. May you and your family be blessed at this time.
Love,
Sue
chris, chris, chris, how hard this is on you, on your family and all of us, words cannot express how we feel, all of us knowing that heavenly father is in total control and he has a place for you so early in your life. many people are going to be excited to see you, and here on earth many of us are so saddened to see you go. we love you chris, you have been a great example to me, and jack is the best. thank goodness for eternal families and know one knows more than this family knows that better. i love your family. Chirs kiss everyone up there for all of us. we will cherish so many fun memories of you guys. i just want all you to know we love you, we are only a phone call away if any i mean if any thing we can do we would be glad to. this just makes you know that this is the time, and heavenly father is making it known,
ReplyDeleteand how faith will help you and us thru. love to all of you, Juli Brink
Aunt Chris,
ReplyDeleteAs I write this tears fill my eyes. Not just because I would love to see you before you leave this mortal life, not because I will miss your hospitality as our family moves to Farmington
(I know Jack is great but we all know YOU are the life of the par tay!), not because I am a little jealous that there are spirits in heaven that get to be with you longer than I have, but because I will only have memories of your little quirks, your voice, and your laugh! I am grateful for your love, example and especially the hugs you gave me this summer when Cary and I visited. I know there is much work to do in heaven and there are people excited to see you again and to have you work with them in furthering the work of the Lord on the other side. I love you for the work you did here on earth and for the work you will do.
Love to you and the whole family
Susan
Dear Chris, With tears I will always remember what a loving, sweet example you have always been. I'm so sad that I won't see you again on this earth and can't give you a hug. But, I'm so thankful for the gospel and to know that we have forever families and friends. I love you Chris and thank you for friendship, smiles and hugs through the years. You have always been such a beautiful, sweet lady to all. Love to you and Jack & family.
ReplyDeleteNedra Shumway
Dear Chris, I will always and forever keep your example of love for family, and all of Heavenly Father's children, formost in my mind.
ReplyDeleteFor example; when Lily Zigler was in the hospital, and her 5 children were there, you came in and showed everyone love and took care of them.
I love you Chris, for the person you are, and the person you encourage everyone else to be.
Thanks for this blog to keep us all informed, it has been comforting. But how hard for Kristi to do and keep up.
